Spanish researchers found that adding nuts to the daily diet worked better than boosting olive oil. A handful of nuts together with a Mediterranean diet rich in fruit, vegetables and fish may help to cut the risk of heart disease known as metabolic syndrom in more people than low fat diet did.
Nuts help people to feel full while also increasing the body’s ability to burn fat, said the leading author Dr. Jordi Salas-Salvado of the University Rovira i Virgil in Reus, Spain. Nuts are rich in anti inflammatory substances und antioxidants and are high in unsaturated fat, known to lower blood triglycerides and increase good cholesterol. Metabolic syndrom was defined as having three or more of the following conditions: abdominal obesity, high triglycerides, low levels of good cholesterol (HDL), high blood sugar and high blood pressure. Participants didn’t trypically lose weight but more of them succeeded in reducing belly fat and reducing their cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.

While trying hard to get over my “I don’t know how to start off with my blog” syndrome, one article in the local newspaper caught my attention. It said:

“Adults should aim to get at least 21/2 hours of exercise a week and children should run and play for at least an hour a day, according to the new exercise guidelines issued by the US government just recently”…. Read the whole article at SlinXtra/Increase your Metabolism
Well, is that really an exciting new discovery? Over 26% of the population is medically obese which means they need medical attention to take control of poor health, symptoms or illness resulting from obesity. That’s a serious threat!
So what is it that makes us rather go for another double hamburger instead of going for a walk? Are we in such a rush, does our daily schedule not leave any space for an exercise routine, is it a lack of motivation or are we simply too lazy and have mentally surrendered to the negative impact of obesity on our daily life and health?
Instead of going on and on I’d like to you to tell your thoughts. And for the one who do exercise regularly please tell us what it takes to overcome that hurdle and stick with the exercise routine. Rudy
